Breakaway Volunteer: Michelle Fischer

Congratulations to Michelle Fischer, a Star Tribune “Athlete of the Week” who was featured in print and online on December 29th!

Michelle is a high school student at Cretin-Derham in St. Paul who volunteers on Sundays with Mike and Tom at their hockey practices and games. (See above story.)  We are grateful to Michelle and to all the volunteers at Dakota Communities who are dedicated to supporting people with disabilities every day.

Get Involved in Grassroots Advocacy

Let’s make sure Minnesota continues to be the kind of state that values people of all abilities. Urge your legislators to invest in Minnesotans with disabilities so that we can all be better off.

Minnesotans face a “fork in the road” regarding how we treat people with developmental disabilities. One path affirms the value of people with disabilities and leads to greater humanity for all people.  The other path goes backward to the inhumane treatment of people with disabilities that characterized our state forty years ago.

View our YouTube video “Minnesota’s Fork in the Road”  Share with family & friends, and post on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn to increase the impact!
