Advocate Advocates at Dakota Communities are Direct Support Professionals responsible for providing active treatment and personal care to people with disabilities, supporting people in pursuing their preferences and dreams, and maintaining a safe, clean and comfortable living environment. Advocate positions do not require previous experience, education, or licensure. Prior experience interacting with people with disabilities is preferred.
Qualifications Include:
- Demonstrated proficiency working with persons who have disabilities, or equivalent experience that relates to the specific needs of people receiving services.
- Demonstrated proficiency in effective verbal and written communication using the English language.
- Valid driver's license may be required and approval to drive for Dakota Communities
Program Coordinator Coordinate and implement services as directed by people receiving services, their legal representatives and interdisciplinary teams.
Qualifications Include:
- Minimum of a 4 year degree
- QDDP qualified (Qualified Developmental Disability Professional)
- 1 or more year(s) experience in supervisory position
- Valid Drivers License and approval to drive for Dakota Communities
Senior Advocate Provide direction and leadership to direct service teams to assure active treatment, completion of personal cares, and the achievement of personal goals and desires of people receiving services.
Qualifications Include:
- Demonstrated proficiency in a leadership role working with persons with developmental disabilities or related conditions
- Two years relevant post-secondary education or equivalent preferred.
- Valid driver's license and approval to drive for Dakota Communities
Vice President of Development The Vice President of Development reports directly to the President/CEO, is part of the Senior Leadership team and works in concert with the Board of Directors to provide vision, strategy and management of all development activities including annual and planned giving, major gifts, grants, gala, and special campaigns. Proactively leads and promotes development of an internal and external culture of philanthropy and at the same time aligns fundraising with organizations’ mission, values and strategic goals. The Vice President of Development is integral to supporting Dakota Communities’ ability to continue to deliver innovative and high-quality services. Changing government reimbursements and people’s growing needs have led Dakota Communities to be increasingly more committed to building its individual, corporate, and foundation philanthropic base of support. The Vice President of Development is responsible to diversify and strengthen contribution channels, with particular attention to individual major and planned gifts, in order to grow the annual development effort from $500,000 to $1million annually by December of 2015.
Qualifications Include:
Experienced Development Professional
- Proven ability to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward individual, corporate and foundation donors
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with leadership team, staff, volunteers, donors and external leaders
- Knowledge and ability to establish and manage Development operations infrastructure
- Expertise in hosting large and small fundraising special events
- A minimum of seven years of progressive experience in fund development including major gifts, grant writing, special events, direct mail and online giving
Innovative and Strategic Leader
- Strategic and innovative thinker with strong management skills
- Effective oral, written, overall communication and technology skills
- Financial management, budget and forecast skills
- Passion for the mission of Dakota Communities
- Bachelors Degree required, advance degree preferred
